What

We gather together from all over Oxford to worship God and hear a talk from the Bible

What

Everyone is welcome to our services, no matter whether you’ve been attending church for years or you’re exploring faith for the first time.

Each service lasts for an hour and a half, and consists of singing (using a mixture of old hymns and modern songs), a talk from the Bible (lasting around 30 minutes), prayer for our city, our nation, and the nations of the world, and some news about upcoming events.

Once a month we share communion – bread and wine – to remember the death of Jesus, and we also hold baptisms and baby dedications throughout the year. Feel free to take part in our services as much or as little as you would like - you’re under no obligation to do anything other than watch and listen to what’s going on. There's also an opportunity to give financially during the meeting - this is for those who consider Emmanuel Church to be their home, so please let the baskets pass you by.

After the service we serve refreshments, including Fairtrade tea and coffee as well as juice and water. We’d love for you to stay around and get to know you better, and answer any questions you might have.

Children & Youth

We want to make sure Sundays are beneficial for everyone, not just adults

Children & Youth

Children and young people are a crucial part of the life of Emmanuel Church. We have four groups for ages 0-18, each one meeting from around 11am until the end of the service.

Jelly Beans (Crèche – Age 0-2)

Our staffed crèche for babies and toddlers is designed to be both fun and structured, with plenty of play equipment for everyone.

Bubbles (Pre-School – Age 2-4)

Bubbles is our group for children not yet at primary school, from aged 2 until they start Reception. There’s lots of fun, with games and stories for everyone.

Kidzone (Primary School – Age 5-11)

Kidzone is for primary school aged children, with sub-groups for Reception - Year 2, and Year 3 – Year 6.

Youth (Secondary School – Age 11+)

Our youth group meets every Sunday from around 11am until the end of the main service, a short walk from Magdalen College School to our church office across the road. Full of games, discussion and time to get to know one another better, it’s for anyone aged 11+.

Safeguarding

We are committed to the nurturing and safeguarding of our children and young people. Children aged 0-11 need to be registered by a parent or guardian and collected from their group at the end of the service, all of our youth and childrens workers are required to undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Check, and we have a comprehensive Safeguarding Policy which can be found here.

And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another.
