The last 4 months have been an exciting time for us at Emmanuel. We became 1 church in 2 locations, and it has been a huge amount of fun to see how both sites are growing and building. Part of that growth is within our children’s work. Across both site we are seeing more children in the groups. This has left us with two choices: stay as we are, or change.
So, we are changing! Across both sites we are adjusting how we serve our children. And it is all kicking off in the next few weeks! This is a very big moment for us at Emmanuel. We are planning how we can best provide for our children in the coming years by making changes now. These changes will allow us to provide for more children and families, and lead them into deeper relationships with God.
So here is the plan!
At Central (North) we are forming two groups. The older group for those in Year 1 and above. The younger group for those in Reception and below.
Having only had one group for the children has been a huge amount of fun, albeit crazy and loud most of the time. But now we have grown to the point where it makes most sense to form two more focused groups.
For this to happen, we really need some more volunteers. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org if you'd like to get involved!
At East, while we are still growing, the change is less about making space for our children. It’s about looking to the future and taking some steps now so that when God brings us more families we are prepared.
We are starting an unmanned crèche for babies. A place for parents/carers to settle their babies and not miss out on the service.
Jellybeans will then cater for 1 and 2 year olds. There will be plenty of time for them to play and make friends, but with a bible story and craft added into the mix.
Bubbles will cover 3 and 4 year olds; Pre-School and Reception aged children.
KidZone will become a group for those in Year 1 to Year 6.
The aim is to make these groups a bit more age specific and allow the leaders to meet the children where they are and help to effectively teach them about God.
These changes will take effect on Sunday 14th January. I am really looking forward to seeing how these changes take shape as we jump into them in the New Year. And I can’t wait to see where God takes us next.
I would love it if you could be praying for:
- The leaders of the groups – that they come back refreshed from the Christmas break
- The kids – that they respond well to the changes and feel safe, secure and loved
- Children’s work – that God would continue to send us more children and families
