Students & Young Adults

Welcome

Emmanuel is enriched by having students and those in and around their twenties at the heart of our church family. This age is a great time to explore faith and grow in God and we believe that this is best done within a church family. If you are a student or young adult in Oxford, or preparing to move here, we’d love to hear from you!

Sundays

We meet every Sunday at 10.30am at Oxford Spires Academy (OX4 2AU) for sung worship and a talk from the Bible. After the service, students and young adults often head to a local pub or park for lunch.

Whether you’re able to stay for 30 minutes or 2 hours, eating lunch together is a great opportunity to enjoy a break from work and to grow friendships with others.

Student Night

Our weekly Student Night takes place every Thursday during term time, 7.30-9pm at our church offices (1-4 The Plain, OX4 1AS). A typical Student Night includes time to catch up with one another, diving into the Bible together and prayer. We love hanging out together and regular socials provide opportunities to deepen relationships with others and to invite friends along.

Student Nights are a great opportunity to ask questions and to grow in relationship with God - whether you’ve been in church for years or are just starting to explore faith, you would be so welcome to join us.

Young Adults

We encourage our young adults to join Emmanuel’s midweek Connect Groups. Connect Groups are at the heart of community at Emmanuel and allow those in their twenties to form friendships with and benefit from the support of those at different stages of life across our church family.

We also really value spending time together as young adults and regularly gather for socials as a group, as well as with the wider student community, throughout each term. From BBQs to film nights to pub trips, there’s always loads on for our young adults to get involved with.

Weekend Away

Every January we spend a weekend away together as Students and Young Adults. As well as enjoying great teaching and seminars, we spend time worshipping together and enjoying God’s presence. The Weekend Away is a real highlight each year and a great chance to relax, have fun, and deepen friendships across the S&YA community.

Church Family

Our Students & Young Adults are involved across all areas of church life from worship, to kidswork, to hospitality and more. Our hope is that termly Student & Young Adult Families Lunches, our Adopt-a-Student scheme and additional mentoring means that our students and twenties are firmly embedded within the church family during their time at Emmanuel.

You can stay up-to-date with all things Students & Young Adults by following us on Instagram or by emailing students@emmanueloxford.org.

We look forward to meeting you soon!

“I love being a part of Emmanuel. It's a community that truly embodies the teachings of Romans 12:5 : 'So in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others'.”

Vannessa

Becoming a Christian during my first year of uni was challenging at first, but Emmanuel made me feel at home and Student Nights allowed me to discover more about Jesus and devote more time to His teachings.
